Connecting through Wi-Fi

When your Pocket PC has connected to Wi-Fi network, tap "Connect" icon on Rudeo Control client: . The circle will start spinning, and once the server is found, it will show a dialog offering to connect to your server. Click Yes if the machine name is correct.

If this is the first time you connected to this server, a dialog like this (see figure on right) will appear. It means that you need to download Media Library information from server. Go ahead and click OK.

In case if no server is found and no dialogs as described above appear, you will need to proceed to Server Options menu, for description please use the following section (Bluetooth Connectivity)

Connecting through Bluetooth

There are several options of how to use Bluetooth to connect to Rudeo Server:
ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth (Preferred option)
Bluetooth Private Networking (if supported by Pocket PC)
Network connection Sharing
To find out how to setup ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth please see ActiveSync instructions. It involves designating a COM port for ActiveSync bluetooth connection, and allowing to connect on that port in ActiveSync Connection Settings. The connections are initiated from Pocket PC Bluetooth software.
If for some reason ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth is not working, you may try setting up a Bluetooth Private Networking, but your Pocket PC must have support for it. Please consult your Pocket PC owner's manual. We have also put together a brief series of screenshots of Bluetooth Private Networking Setup as an aid in the setup.

Find Server IP Address

Now we need to find the IP address of your server. It might be so because you are using Bluetooth or for some reason a Wi-Fi server discovery didn't work. On server machine, please make sure that Rudeo server is running. Find the Rudeo icon on task bar, it looks like this: . If you don't see the icon, it might be that task bar has hidden it if it's been inactive for a while. See if you need to open hidden task bar icons. Then right-click Rudeo icon, and select "Server Status Window..." command. Server Status Window (see below) has the Server IP address displayed under he "Hide" button on right side.

Make a note of the IP address shown on Server Status Window, then on Pocket PC, select menu Extra, then "Server Options". This will take you to the Server options window (shown on the right). On Server Options page tap "Add New Server" and input server IP address in the field (shown under "Computer 1" on screenshot above).

Next pick name for the server, or type any other name into the box which says <Name Your Server>

After that you can tap "Test Connection". The result of test will be displayed under the button. If the test succeeded, tap the floppy disk "Save" icon on the bottom left of Server options window, then highlight Computer1 and close this form (upper right corner). Then click "Connect" circle to connect to the server. It will change to .

If the Test failed, you may need to consider following:

Verify that server IP address is correct.
The Server PC has some Firewall Software which prohibits connecting from Pocket PC.
The networking on Pocket PC has not been properly setup.
After connecting, you may be prompted to Download Library, in that case click OK. - it is important to have library downloaded.
At any time to update media information on Pocket PC, the library can be downloaded by selecting Extra à "Download Library" (see figure on right). Note that you need to be connected to server.

To Disconnect from host computer, select menu Extra à Disconnect.
To Cancel a connection attempt, select menu Extra à Cancel Connect.

Music Tab

Playlists Tab

The playlists are displayed in the dropdown box on top. Tap on the dropdown box to select the desired playlist to access.
Items have to be “checked” in this list to actually use them for cueing to Currently Playing or for manipulating them with Up/Down, or Delete buttons.
When multiple items selected, the Add Operations apply to all selected items.

Videos Tab

Videos are divided into categories by Artist and Genre
Filter displayed videos by selecting a category from the dropdown on top of Videos tab.
Items have to be “checked” in this list to add them to Currently Playing or to any playlist.
When multiple items selected, the Add Operations apply to all selected items.

Radio Tab

Radio stations are displayed in the single list
Items have to be “checked” in this list to add them to Currently Playing or to any playlist.
